Objective | NURSE 2012 aims to collect data to help monitor and understand the functioning of nurseries, these essential habitats which play a determining role in the recruitment of juveniles in several fish species. There are three parts to this objective: 1) Sampling of benthic and demersal populations (commercial and non-commercial species) in order to develop quality indicators for nursery habitats and indicators of good ecological status of coastal populations; 2) Monitoring a fish nursery in the Bay of Vilaine to study hydrological forcing and the trophic structure which determine how dependent fish species are with respect to various habitats in this nursery; 3) Sampling over two 24-hour cycles to study the feeding rate and frequency of benthic species. The related project is Popex, run by the Biological resources and environment department. |
