Objective

Participating in an international project (SPURS) to study the salinity maximum region of the sub-tropical North Atlantic gyre (August 2012-September 2013), contributing in particular during one of four oceanographic cruises (Strasse, 16 August-13 September 2012), by observations: CTDs, Scanfish, gliders, instrumented drifting buoys, and analysis of SMOS satellite data. Appraising the hydrological cycle in the subtropical Atlantic Ocean (salinity maximum region). This is specifically done through detailed study of the ocean surface salinity balance at different scales, as well as by analyzing the cycle of isotopomers in water, air-water exchanges and the lower atmosphere. Analysis of the biogeochemical functioning of this oligotrophic oceanographic region and the carbon cycle.
