Objective | This cruise is part of the FROMVAR project to study the Ushant tidal front. It took part in the inter-annual hydrology monitoring of the zone by enabling a network of CTD measurements with high spatial resolution to be made using a Scanfish towfish. Moreover, it made it possible to collect a large set of data on heat exchanges and the amount of movement at the air/sea interface, including (list is far from complete): - measurements of radiative fluxes (solar and IR, upward and downward). - measuring turbulent heat fluxes and the amount of movement using the DT INSU's mast with "flux" instruments.- measurements of wind profile in lower layers (40 m =>160 m) using LIDAR, and in the troposphere (200 m => 10 km) using balloon radio sounding. - sea state measurements using a Datawell WaveRider MkIII swell recorder buoy and a "home-made" instrumented buoy with an attitude control unit. - Eulerian current measurements in the surface layer (20 cm => 50 m) using an ADCP RDI on a surface buoy. - Lagrangian current measurements in the surface layer (1 m => 15 m) using a set of drifting buoys. 6 deployments were made. This falls under the FROMVAR project. |
