Objective | This PREVISHELF measurement cruise was part of 1/ the SHELFLUX programme framework aiming to improve knowledge about sediment fluxes on the continental shelf and 2/ the operational PREVIMER programme framework (observations and short term forecasts for coastal environment on metropolitan France's seafronts), in order to validate numerical models. During this cruise, performed off Pointe du Croisic, several actions were scheduled: setting up an acquisition station at a depth of -40 m including an ADCP and bottom and sub-surface turbidity meters(for a period of about 4 months); SCANFISH profiles in water column (temperature, salinity, turbidity); sidescan sonar profiles, short cores taken with Bowers & Conelly multitube corer, hydrological stations with CTD and Niskin bottle water samples at surface and bottom in order to calibrate the turbidity meter probes. The length of the shore to offshore transect studied was 38 nautical miles. This cruise was associated with the PREVISHELF and PREVIMER projects. |
