Objective The cruise FAIVI aboard Haliotis from IFREMER is the first part of a two-leg survey funded by EUROFLEETS that addresses twofold scientific topics in Terceira and Faial (central Azores). One is the study of the depositional bodies on the insular shelves of both islands and the other is the study of the eruptive products (lava balloons) from an intermediate-depth submarine volcanic eruption W of Terceira (Serreta submarine volcano). During this cruise we aimed to cover with multibeam bathymetry the nearshore areas (-10m to -100m) around Terceira island and the shallowest part of Serreta submarine eruption. The cruise is related to the project EUROFLEETS.
