| Objective | The objectives of the cruise were to: (1) comparing the catch potential of different designs of fish traps -Hypothesis H1: The fish trap design has a significant effect on the catch; (2) testing the performance of various attractants - Hypothesis H1: The type of attractant/bait has a significant effect on the catch; (3) describing the catch process using underwater video. Breaking down and defining the catch process in 3 phases: (i) attraction or approach, (ii) catching and holding, (iii) escape; and (iv) conducting physical measurements at sea on fish traps in the context of creating software to design fishing gear. Description of a fish trap's behaviour as the current changes and attaching a current meter on a fish trap which is part of an array. The cruise was related to the State-region contract plan project. |
