The APINIL cruise had two main objectives: (1) Understanding, assessing and distinguishing the action of specific factors in triggering submarine instability, particularly the type (effusive or diffuse) of fluid upwellings, (2) Understand and distinguish the impact of climate and glacio-eustatic variations on sediment deposit trends and on the morphology and construction of channel-levee-lobe systems from the upper part of the slope to the basin.

Summary of measurements
-EM302 bathymetric surveys and Chirp data acquisition. -AUV deployed and THR bathymetric surveys with EM2000. -Deployment of SAR-PASISAR and acquisition of data from sidescan sonar, sub-bottom profiler and HR near-bottom seismic profiles. -Sediment core samples taken.
