Summary of measurements |
- -Acoustics. Acoustic sampling was done in daytime over a sampling grid with legs 8 miles apart. A total of 59 transects were covered (851 nautical miles of acoustic sampling).
-Trawls. Two pelagic trawls were used. A total of 51 hauls were made. -Hydrology and plankton. The stations will be placed along the acoustic transects and the distance between them will most likely be 3 nautical miles, normally this should be done at night-time on profiles coinciding with the acoustic ones. -100 vertical profiles of salinity, temperature and fluorescence along 25 transects were performed in all. -Continuous underway recording of eggs. A pump was used to take water at 3m depth. Using this pump, horizontal distribution of eggs was obtained by the CUFES (Continuous Underway Fish Egg Sampler). A total of 291 samples were obtained. - Mapping the abundance of predators: Observations were made during acoustic sampling legs (with two observers during the first part and only one during the second).
