| Objective | Acoustics: recordings of large-scale acoustic signatures for mapping the sea floor and the habitats of the South-West lagoon. Ground-truthing: sampling of sediment in order to characterize acoustic signatures. Terrigenous inputs: sediment samples taken to refine the study of the distribution of terrigenous input along the coastal zone. The cruise fell under the PNEC New Caledonia worksite project, the IRD Camelia Research Unit program and the ZoNeCo (New-Caledonia) project. Cruise report: Recordings of sea-bottom acoustic signatures at 154,973 points in the lagoon (Fig. 1); 29 samples taken to study the distribution of terrigenous inputs (Fig. 2); 30 sediment samples taken to characterize acoustic signatures (Fig. 3); 917 nautical miles covered (1,698 km). |
