Objective | This cruise, related to that of March 2001 (REMORA1), was to enable estimation of the concentration, in 2001, of various markers (artificial and natural radionuclides, etc.) present in the marine sediments found in areas under the influence of the Rhône River. The results were to be compared with those obtained in 1990-1991. 1990-91. Core samples were taken to refine previous studies on sedimentary accumulation, radionuclide speciation and seasonal variations (pollen) in this zone. The core samples were also to help better understand the effects of the centenary floods of October 1993-January 1994 on those parameters. Following the stopping of discharges from Marcoule, the remobilization of markers associated with the sediments was to be taken into account in the framework of studies on tracers carried by the Rhone into the Mediterranean and more specifically over the Gulf of Lion. This cruise was associated with the PNEC and REMOTRANS projects. |
