Objective The main objective was to better characterize the habitats in the central area of the English Channel, by performing a series of rectangular boxes combining sidescan sonar profiles, grab samples and video filming using a ROV from the original meridian and across the entire Channel. This cruise is the first part of a two-year long project. In 2010, we took coverage of the eastern basin of the Channel and the western part of the western basin. The rest of the western basin of the Channel will be covered during a second cruise in 2011. The related projects are INTERREG IVA and CHARM 3.
