Objective | This is part of the general international PIRATA programme. It was the 20th French cruise of the same type, which is why it is called FR20. The previous cruise, PIRATA-FR19, was performed in June/July 2009 and enabled 5 Pirata buoys located in the Gulf of Guinea to be replaced. The FR20 cruise enabled maintenance work on 5 ATLAS sites: On the first leg on the buoy at 0°-0° followed by the two buoys along 10°W at 10°S and 6°S. On the second leg, buoys located at 0°-10°W and 0°-23°W. A subsurface current meter mooring was also replaced at 0°-10°W on this leg. This falls under the SOERE PIRATA programme. |
