Objective	This is part of the general international PIRATA programme. It was the 20th French cruise of the same type, which is why it is called FR20. The previous cruise, PIRATA-FR19, was performed in June/July 2009 and enabled 5 Pirata buoys located in the Gulf of Guinea to be replaced. The FR20 cruise enabled maintenance work on 5 ATLAS sites: On the first leg on the buoy at 0°-0° followed by the two buoys along 10°W at 10°S and 6°S. On the second leg, buoys located at 0°-10°W and 0°-23°W. A subsurface current meter mooring was also replaced at 0°-10°W on this leg. This falls under the SOERE PIRATA programme.

Summary of measurements

-Soul buoy moored at 0°02.656 N and 00°00.406 W on 17/09/2010.
-Deployment and recovery of Gavotte buoys at 09°58'30 S and 009°58'770 W on 22/09/2010, Valse buoys at 06°03'590 S and 010°00'500 W on 24/09/2010.
-Java buoys moored and retrieved at 00°01.214 N and 009°54.884 W on 10/10/2010.
and Jazz buoys at 00°00.396 N and 022°59.833 W on 15/10/2010.
-Sub-surface ADCP moored and recovered at 0/10W.
-31 CTD stations at the buoy mooring points and each time an APEX float was deployed, with current measurements using LADCP (300khz) and then along the 10°W leg between 10°S and 1°30N.
-76 XBT shots at each degree of latitude during trips in transit, associated with taking seawater samples, then at each degree of latitude along the 10°W leg between 10°S and 1°30N.
-Deployment of 8 APEX floats and 3 Pacificgyre drifting buoys.
-Regular sampling (at TSG water intake) of surface seawater to analyze the salinity, nutrients and dissolved Co2 (leg 1).
-Recordings logged: -SST and SSS with shipboard TSG, navigation and meteorological data from ship's weather station, bathymetry with deep water echosounder.
-Currents were logged with the ship's VM-ADCP (only during the 2nd leg, due to equipment breakdown which was repaired at the intermediate call at Cotonou).
