Objective | Characterizing the large sedimentary ensembles which have shaped the toe of the ramp slope since the Neogene and their stratigraphic architecture; characterizing the morphology of recent gravity-driven sedimentary bodies which shape the ramp and its toe; characterizing their geometry; characterizing the depositional facies and their longitudinal evolution when possible; obtaining information about the processes of transport and re-sedimentation of carbonate particles; establishing an accurate stratigraphic interpretation for the recent period (last 50,000 years); possibly establishing sub-recent variations (Holocene)in sediment acquiring information about carbonate mounds built by deep-water coral; establishing a depositional model on a modern carbonate ramp and comparing it to systems in older ones (Flysch Basque, Oman, etc.). The related project is called Action Marges. |
