Objectif

Le projet SanBa Project (Santos Basin-Seismic Research experiment) se déroule au sein d'une réflexion plus générale menée par nos équipes sur le processus d'amincissement de la croûte terrestre qui a construit des marges passives et des basins intra-continentaux. Le projet permettra d'effectuer une comparaison entre la structure profonde de la large marge de Santos (avec son conjugé, la marge étroite de Namibe) et le système adjacent d'Espirito Santo-Angola dans lequel l'équipe a déjà mené des études approfondies (Moulin 2003; Moulin et al., 2005; Aslanian et al., 2009; Moulin et al., 2010a, 2010b).

Le projet Sanba représentera une nouvelle partie de la typologie en cours pour la caractérisation générale des différentes types de marges que nous construisons, prenant en compte l'histoire tectonique des marges, la géodynamique régionale et globale ainsi que l'influence de la segmentation du manteau (Moulin et al., 2006; Aslanian et al., 2009).

Son objectif est de tester des modèles existants et/ou de proposer un nouveau modèle pour l'histoire de la marge qui prend en compte toutes les observations géophysiques, géodynamiques et géologiques.
