Objectif La campagne ANTARES 1 est la première campagne du programme ANTARES qui a pour objectif l'étude des cycles biogéochimiques dans l'océan Austral Indien. Cette campagne était principalement axée sur l'étude biologique et chimique des sédiments superficiels afin de définir les modes de préservation du message sédimentaire et les taux de reminéralisation qui affectent les particules d'origine biogénique avant leur enfouissement permanent. Cette campagne avait aussi pour but de définir les zones ateliers sur lesquelles seront placées les lignes de pièges à sédiment. Le dernier aspect concernait l'étude de la circulation des eaux au niveau de la région étudiée par 58E des iles Crozet vers le continent Antarctique.
