Objective Studying the fauna and population structures on isolated shoals in the middle of abyssal plains. Studying larval dispersion and colonisation strategies for benthic species. Studying the genetic aspect of shoal populations' isolation. SEAMOUNT 1 (continuation of the BALGIM cruise by RV CRYOS in 1984) is the first of a series of 3 missions (1987-1989-1991).
