| Objective | The ESS_PENCARSYSROV cruise aimed to validate various equipment and/or marine instruments through trials at sea. For most of the equipment, these tests are an indispensable and vital step in the development process or in recommissioning it for operational service. The equipment to be tested was as follows: PENFELD penetrometer in the 30-metre 20 kN version, the new trigger arm of the heavy corer and its set of rachets, the coring platform adapted to the new corer, the SYSIF towed vehicle in single-channel and multichannel mode with validation of software modifications and the ROV Victor following a technical stop. This trials mission made it possible to check the good operation of this equipment and prepare the missions for the second semester of 2015, i.e. GITAN and GHASS. The following work zones were used: Mériadzek terrace (N47°27,124' ' W08°27,024'), Berthois spur (N47°44,000' ' W08°07,000'), Guilcher canyon (N47°01,258' ' W07°45,005'), Banc de La Chapelle (N47°31,830' ' W07°29,455'). The related projects are EMSO, Carnot PENFELD, GITAN, GHASS and PAMELA. |
