Objectif Evaluation des ressources halieutiques : En Manche Est (zone CIEM VIId), la campagne CGFS permet depuis 1988 de collecter les informations nécessaires à l'évaluation des stocks (indices d'abondance aux âges, indice de recrutement, relations taille-poids, ogive de maturité). L'objectif de CGFS 2015 est de poursuivre l'effort de collecte de ces informations utilisées par les groupes européens d'évaluation des stocks. Mise en place d'un suivi écosystémique : Il s'agit de profiter du passage de la CGFS sur le N/O Thalassa (le N/O Gwen Drez ne naviguant plus) pour initier le suivi de l'habitat pélagique (paramètres physico-chimiques, phytoplancton, zooplancton, oeufs de poissons) et des prédateurs supérieurs (oiseaux et mammifères marins) afin de compléter la vision de l'écosystème échantillonné par le chalut. Exploration de la Manche Ouest : poursuite de l'effort initié lors de CAMANOC 2014 pour échantillonner la Manche Ouest en vue de la mise en place d'une campagne d'évaluation halieutique récurrente dans un futur proche.
